ISO has decided to grant full membership to YSMO in January 2010. Mr. Yahya Al-motawakel, the minister of industry and commerce,said that this action will support the technical abilities of YSMO to improve the level of the national production in quality and quantity and this will lead to increase the chance of export and to reach new markets. At the same time this will decrease the cost of production and increase the competitive abilities of the national industries. Mr.Yahya also said to Sheba Agency that this successfulness came after Yemen getting of full membership in GSO at the beginning of the current year to explain the desire of Yemen to join its economy with the world economies to get the full membership in ISO at the end of the current year. He add that this will provide more efficient and dynamic control of food safety and will help in planning  in addition to enabling Yemen to participate in preparing the standards and metrology activities worldly, so that will help also in taking in the consideration the requirements of industry sector in Yemen during international standard preparing. Mr. Ahmed Al-Basha, the general director of YSMO, said that this will enhance the benefit from the experiences and technical assistance which will be granted. Also he indicated to the importance of world metrology role in rising the activity of production circle and facilitating of the world commerce. It was pointed that ISO was established in 1947and it is a world union of the national organization of metrology and  it now has more than 140 members and contains 2800 technical system (technical committee, sub-committee, work groups and specialized groups).The main task of ISO is encouraging the development of metrology and its related activities in the world to facilitate the operations of goods and services exchanging and also to achieve mutual understanding in the scientific, technical and economical fields.
